The Leave No Trace national educational program was created to encourage recreationists to use minimum impact techniques when traveling or camping on public lands. Seven main principles have been developed to assist visitors in having a safe adventure that helps preserve the integrity of our natural environment. Please help us ensure that adventure and solitude remain part of our backcountry travels by becoming equipped with the skills and habits that will enable you to Leave No Trace.
For more Leave No Trace Information, call 1-800-332-4100 or look up http://www.lnt.org/ on the web. Particularly geared to this area is the information booklet on Leave No Trace for the Northeast Mountains.
Another excellent way to learn about Wilderness, Leave No Trace practices and other recreation opportunities is to join a hiking club that offers outdoor trips and training:

|Green Mountain Club||Dartmouth Outing Club|
