Description:

The Potomac Group Campground provides a primitive group camping experience intended for groups of 8 to 40 people. This site is excellent for family events and youth group activities. The site is only accessible by hiking approximately 200 yards from the parking area. Facilities include a large pavilion with picnic tables, cooking grills, camping areas, and vault toilets. The site is $10.00 per night for up to 20 people and $0.50 per additional person. This site may be reserved by only one group at a time. Reservations are required and must be made at least 4 days in advance through the reserveamerica.com web site or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

Facilities:

The Potomac Group Campground is intended for groups of 8 to 40 people. The site is accessible only by hiking; it is approximately 200 yards from the parking area. The parking area can accommodate up to 10 cars. Facilities include a pavilion with 4 long picnic tables, cooking grills, fire rings, and two vault toilets. There are no tent pads or platforms but there are several small, flat fields suitable for tenting. No dumpster service is provided, but trash cans are available for use by campers. There is no electricity or sewer hookup and there is no artificial lighting. There is no drinking water available.

Directions:

From the South, take State Route 14 North (Exit 52 off State Route 17) to Watkins Glen, NY. In Watkins Glen, turn right at the Fourth St intersection onto State Route 414 North. Go approximately 9 miles north, past the Hector Ranger Station of the Finger Lakes National Forest. 0.5 miles past the Ranger Station, turn right on Schuyler County Route 2. Go 4.4 miles east until the road ends and turn left onto Potomac Road and look for the signs for the Potomac Group Campground.
From the North, take State Route 414 South to Hector, NY (Exit 41 off I-90). In Hector, 0.5 miles past the gas station, turn left onto County Route 2, the second asphalt road on the left. Go 4.4 miles east until the road ends and turn left onto Potomac Road and look for the signs for the Potomac Group Campground.

Notes:

Maximum length of stay is 14 days.
Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
Check out time is 2:00 PM.
There is no dump station
