Welcome to the Southern Area Advanced
Fire and Aviation Academy
website. The purpose
of the academy is to
provide efficient delivery
of upper level fire
training in a two-week
academy format. The
prime objective is to
maintain and enhance
fire suppression, fire
management, and all-hazard
position qualifications
and meet required agency
certifications. The
regional academy is
an innovative effort
responsive to building
upper level staffing
capacity and capability.
This is an interagency
effort including Department
of Interior and Southern
State Forestry agencies.
This
academy will provide
employees the opportunity
to attend multiple sessions
in a two-week period,
accelerating their ability
to obtain required training.
The schedule includes
300- and 400-level courses in the areas of leadership, prescribed fire, suppression, and dispatch as well as others (i.e., ISUITE, WFDSS, Fire Effects Monitoring, Firefighter Retirement, COR/COTR Refresher, etc.).
We invite you to review
the course schedule and course information
to see how the academy
can assist with your
individual training
needs. Also, we ask you to please review the Academy Policy Memo which outlines the procedures and guideline of the academy.
