Advancing Collaborative Ecological Restoration in the Southern Appalachians
The USDA Forest Service has initiated an open, collaborative process to advance ecological restoration in the Southern Appalachian national forests. A workshop sponsored by the Forest Service Southern Region and facilitated by the USDA Forest Service National Collaboration Cadre was held in Knoxville, TN June 2-3, 2010. Two days packed with presentations about ongoing restoration efforts and small group discussions provided participants a depth of knowledge and the start of many new relationships. Results of the workshop and follow-up efforts are provided here for those who have an interest in the future of the Southern Appalachian forests.
