     The Kisatchie Bayou Day-Use Area is part of the Kisatchie Bayou Recreation Complex located on the banks of Kisatchie Bayou. Bluffs provide great views of white sand beaches, rocky rapids, and sandy bottomland flats forested with large mixed hardwood and pine. There are short hiking trails both up and downstream for easy access to the banks of the bayou.

Rapids on Kisatchie Bayou     Visitors to the Kisatchie Bayou Day-Use Area can expect beautiful landscapes including bluffs, beaches, and old growth forest. There is restroom facilities, trash receptacles, picnic tables, fire rings, and barbeque pits. There are access steps to the bank of the bayou which allows canoe users to unload from the lower parking lot to the waters edge. Fishing is a very popular activity at Kisatchie Bayou with the possibility of hooking a bass, perch, sunfish, or catfish.
Kisatchie Bayou Recreation Complex location sign     Wildlife viewing is impressive with the remote location of the recreation area. Connected to the day-use facilities are camping areas both up and down stream. These campsites are walk-in sites made for tent camping. There is one handicap accessible site connected to the middle parking area. There is a spur trail to the Caroline Dormon Horse Trail that heads upstream.

     Facilities: Vault Restrooms, trash receptacles, picnic tables, fire rings, barbeque pits, cement pads.

     Directions: From the intersection of I-49 and Highway 6 (Natchitoches), drive west on Hwy 6 for 7 miles. Turn left (south) on Louisiana Hwy 117 and proceed 16 miles to Forest Highway 59, Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway. Turn left (east) on FH 59 and go 7 miles to Forest Road 321. Turn right (south) on FR 321 and go 4 miles to Forest Road 366. Turn right (west) on FR 366 and proceed to the end of the road.
