     The Stuart Lake Campground is a primitive campground inside the Stuart Lake Recreation Complex. There is an assortment of recreational opportunities at Stuart Lake including fishing, swimming, hiking, picnicking, and much more.

Stuart Lake Campground Information

Stuart Lake Recreation Area SignFacilities: Stuart Lake is a peaceful lake in an attractive wooded setting. The campground has 8 campsites, picnicking, swimming, fishing, drinking water, restrooms, two hiking trails available, and an open-air amphitheater.

Directions: From Alexandria, take U.S. Highway 167 north for 14 miles. Turn right (east) on Louisiana Hwy 8 and go 4 miles. Turn right (south) on Forest Road 144 and go 1 mile. The entrance is on the right and a fee station is just inside the campground.

Fees: The Stuart Lake Campground costs $5 per night.

     Stuart Lake Recreation Complex was originally created as an irrigation reservoir for the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed Stuart Pine Seed Orchard and Nursery. This peaceful 5-acre lake is surrounded by mixed pine/hardwood forest setting. Another nearby attraction for campers is the Catahoula Hummingbird and Butterfly Garden located just a few miles away near the catahoula Ranger District Office on Louisiana Hwy 8.
