The Caney Lakes Unit has two separate campgrounds located within the Caney Lakes Recreation Complex. The Beaver Dam Campground is a modern facility located on Upper Caney Lake. Turtle Slide Campground is a primitive campground located on Lower Caney Lake.
General Camping Opportunity Descriptions

Beaver Dam Campground: A modern campground inside the Caney Lakes Recreation Complex on the Caney Lakes Unit in the Caney Ranger District. Located on scenic Upper Caney Lake which is a 125 acre reservoir that provides a scenic setting for a wide variety of recreational opportunities. Traversing the campground is the Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail.

Turtle Slide Campground: A primitive campground located on the shores of Lower Caney Lake which is a 250 acre reservoir with a scenic pine and hardwood setting. This campground is earmarked for tents and smaller trailers but being primitive, there is no electricity and the water availability is scattered throughout the campground. The Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail is also nearby.
