Recreation

Stony Fork Campground

Contact information: Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, 3714 Highway 16, 24354. Phone 800-628-7202 or 276-783-5196.

Image of a Pop-Up Camper Located at the foot of Big Walker Mountain, Stony Fork Campground is the largest of the campgrounds on the NRV District. It has 49 sites, shower facilities and electric and water hook-ups.

 

 

Stony Fork Creek winds through the campground and provides spots for trout fishing and water play.

A one-mile nature trail starts in the campground and will take campers through stands of pine and hardwoods

This paved campground has 42 first come, first served sites and 7 reservable sites. 3 are wheelchair accessible.

  • Sites #11, #15, and #35 are wheelchair accessible.
  • Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov at 877-444-6777 or online at www.recreation.gov. The campground also has first-come, first-served sites.
  • One trailer per site
