    • Data Processing -Incorporates data into the GIS from multiple sources including everything from paper maps to Digital Aerial Sketch Mapping System files
    • Analysis -Generates spatial analysis for projects in all aspects of the FHP program
    • Products -Produces maps, reports, and posters providing information required for further analysis, publications, presentations, and project work
    • Technical Support -Provides technical support in GIS software and processes to all FHP personnel in the Southern Region
    • Teamwork -Participates on regional and national teams involved in many aspects of GIS processes to further the effectiveness and efficiency of GIS in the Forest Service

    • Assists the Risk Map team to run models and validate model output

Future direction

  • More FHP personnel will be doing GIS on a daily basis as GIS becomes integrated into the PC desktop
