Laurel Wilt - Photo GalleryDisease SymptomsPhotos included in this section are arranged by host plant and include panoramic views, as well as leaf symptoms and stained sapwood resulting from infection by Raffaelea lauricola , the fungus that causes laurel wilt disease. Host species included here are redbay, sassafras, pondspice, camphor, and avocado, all of which have been shown to harbor R. lauricola through isolation and subsequent laboratory culture of the fungus from plant parts infected either through natural means or experimental inoculation.
Note: No attempt has been made here to distinguish between redbay, Persea borbonia , swampbay – P. palustris , or silkbay – P. humilis , which are considered by some experts to be variations of Persea borbonia.
