Trail Markings and ConditionsTrail Relocations In case of differences, always rely on trail markings rather than maps, as current trail locations may not be shown. Consult the nearest ranger station about trail conditions. Always consult the Current Conditions page for trail closure information. Trail Conditions Snow and wind storms have caused significant damage on portions of the forest. Cleanup on trails and recreation areas is ongoing. Trails have been cleared of storm damaged trees. However, the trail tread still needs to be repaired. Watch your step! Please contact the Ranger Station or Current Conditions page for more information on specific trails and areas. Trail Markings Trails are marked with standard diamond-shaped blazes or markers. Trail signs are used at trail intersections and as needed. The 4-inch white turtle markers identifying the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail are used as a reminder to assure users that they are still on the trail.
