Cumberland Ranger District Trails

These trails are located on Cumberland Ranger District. Please remember that SOME of these trails are multiple-use, open to horseback riding, mountain biking and OHVing, in addition to hikers and backpackers. Please practice Trail Safety and Leave No Trace to make your visit safe and enjoyable while protecting resources we all enjoy.

Recreation Permits are needed at the White Sulphur OHV Trail. Learn about fees and open/closing dates at: Recreation Schedule and Fees (pdf).

 

Hikers are allowed on the White Sulphur OHV ONLY in the closed season (December 1 - May 30).

These trails were once part of Stanton Ranger District, which was combined with Morehead Ranger District and renamed the Cumberland Ranger District.

TRAIL WORK VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!
A volunteer group gets together at least once each month to add value to the trails of the Red River Gorge. To find out more, go to RRG Trail Crew.

GET YOUR PERMIT! - A recreation permit is required for backcountry camping. All vehicles on KY 15 or in the Red River Gorge and Indian Creek areas north of KY 15 must display a recreation permit between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Permits are available at local stores, the Gladie Cultural-Environmental Learning Center, and Forest Service offices.

Kentucky law prohibits the consumption of alcohol in public places and open containers of alcohol.
