Picnic Areas on Cumberland Ranger District

Cumberland Ranger District features many picnic areas for you to enjoy. Some are roadside areas, while others feature more wooded settings, and some have recreation facilities such as playing fields, volleyball, horseshoes, trails and more.

Please help us keep our picnic areas clean. Put your trash in the proper disposal containers or pack it out.

Keep wildlife wild! Don't feed the animals.

Kentucky law prohibits the consumption of alcohol in public places and prohibits open containers of alcohol.

Longbow Picnic Area

Description Small picnic area with shade trees, near Longbow Marina and Boat Ramp on Cave Run Lake. Fishing nearby.

Directions From I-64 at exit 123, take KY 36 south for approximately 15 miles to KY 1274. Go east on KY 1274 for 8 miles to Longbow Marina.

Clear Creek Picnic Area

Description Near Clear Creek Iron Furnace and Pioneer Weapons Wildlife Management Area. Hiking trail nearby.

Directions From US 60 at exit 123, take KY 211 south from Salt Lick for 4 miles. Turn left (east) on Forest Road 129 for 2 miles to Clear Creek Picnic Area.

Boat Gunnel Branch Picnic Area

Description Woodland grounds on the shores of Cave Run Lake. Picnic shelter available. Wildlife Habitat Trail nearby.

Twin Knobs West Group Area

Description Group use U.S. Fee area in Twin Knobs Campground on Cave Run Lake. Features softball, volleyball, horseshoes, picnic shelter, and large grill. Hiking trails, fishing and swimming nearby. This is a day use area.
