Redbird Ranger District OHV Trails
2009 Recreation Schedule and Fees (pdf).
Redbird Crest Trail
OHV
permits are required for OHV's using the trail. For
more information on fees charged, please contact the Redbird Ranger Station
or go to Recreation Fee Passes
The Redbird Crest Trail is a 65-mile loop trail, which begins and ends
near the Redbird District Office. The trail generally follows
the ridgetops. Some parts may be steep and rough. Some areas are so narrow
that only single track vehicles can drive on them. It is a multiple-use
trail, which means that hikers, horses, mountain bikes, motorcycles and
ATVs under 50 inches wide are welcome, so learn to Share
The Trail, practice Trail
Safety,
and become familiar with OHV Regulations.
One portion of the route on Sand Hill Road is open to licensed vehicles
only.
Kentucky law prohibits the
consumption of alcohol in public places and prohibits open containers
of alcohol.
RECREATION PASSES. A special recreation
pass is required to use this trail.
The following types of permits are available:
- 1-DAY PASS - $7.00
Valid until noon the day after purchase. Band must be worn on operator's

wrist or attached to handle bar of ATV to be valid.

Recreation Opportunity Guides (ROGS) are letter-sized
information sheets about trails and recreation areas. Trail ROGS give
information on trailhead location, trail length, USGS quad name, county
name, hiking difficulty, trail surface, connections and restrictions.
The back page of the ROG has a map of the area or trail. ROGs are available
in PDF formats. If you don't have a PDF reader, Download
FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader.
