Recreation: Cumberland Horseback Riding

Recreation Schedule and Fees (pdf)

The Cumberland Ranger District invites you to discover the over 100 miles of trails. Many trails are open to horseback riding and are signed as such. If you wish more specific information and trail maps, contact the district.

Note: The following two sections of the Sheltowee Trace are closed to horseback riding: Holly Fork to Big Perry (KY799), and Hwy. 60/Trail to Big Limestone Trail. Also closed to horseback riding are Martin Branch Trail #119, Clear Creek Lake Trail #103, and Dry Branch Connector Trail #101 to Jenny Wiley Trail.

Please remember that these trails are multiple-use. Please practice Trail Safety, Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly to make your visit safe and enjoyable while protecting resources we all enjoy.

Kentucky law prohibits the consumption of alcohol in public places and prohibits open containers of alcohol.

White Sulphur Horse Camp

Near 40 miles of trails in Pioneer Weapons Area, access to Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail. The campground features chemical toilets, watering trough, horse trailer parking, picket lines, and a gravel lot.

Directions: KY 211 south from Salt Lick for 4 miles. Turn left (east) on Forest Road 129, go 2 miles to Clear Creek.
