Beaches

These small beaches are located on Cumberland and London Ranger Districts, on Cave Run and Laurel River Lakes. No lifeguard is on duty, and you swim at your own risk. Please note that due to the nature of these lakes, there may be sudden drop-offs. See our water safety page.

Kentucky law prohibits the consumption of alcohol in public places and prohibits open containers of alcohol.

Twin Knobs Beach: Cumberland Ranger District

Description Scenic shorelines and camping on 700-acre wooded peninsula on Cave Run.

Location From I-64 at Exit 133 (Farmers) proceed south on KY 801. Campground is 9 miles on the right.

 

Zilpo Beach: Cumberland Ranger District

Description Scenic shorelines and camping

Location Take KY 211 south from Salt Lick 4 miles. Turn left (east) on Forest Road 129. Go 2.5 miles to Forest Road 918. Follow 918 approximately eight miles to Zilpo Recreation Area.

 

Laurel River Dam Beach: London Ranger District

Description Public beach operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is located at Laurel River Dam.
