Forest Service conducting controlled burn in McCreary County

Firefighters with the Daniel Boone National Forest are conducting a controlled burn today in eastern McCreary County. A total of 1,840 acres will be burned by aerial ignition.
Residents southwest of Corbin, Ky. may see or smell smoke.
This burn is being conducted to reduce forest fuel levels. By reducing leaf litter and woody debris on the forest floor, controlled burning will lessen the chance for a catastrophic wildfire to occur in this area.
