Forest Service conducting controlled burn in Clay CountyFor Immediate Release Contact: kmorgan@fs.fed.us
Firefighters with the Daniel Boone National Forest are conducting a controlled burn today in the northeastern section of Clay County. A total of 726 acres will be burned. With winds from the southwest, residents in Breathitt County may see or smell smoke. This burn is being conducted to reduce forest fuel levels. By reducing leaf litter and woody debris on the forest floor, controlled burning will lessen the chance for a catastrophic wildfire to occur in this area. For more information, contact the Redbird Ranger District at (606) 598-2192. #
