  Welcome to the Blue Team

The Blue Team has been a formally organized interagency incident management team since 1983. We’ve had a proud tradition of taking “the assignment we draw” and not quibbling about how bad, or non-essential it is or was. This team also has a reputation of not strutting. I expect this tradition to also continue. We will prove how good our performance is or was by the rating we get from the agency administrator, and by how we are received in the community we reside in while on assignment.

Other important expectations are as follows:

1. Dress professionally. Refer to the mobe guide for specifics. Perception goes a long way, therefore, we always want to look like the professional team we are.
2. Practice the Golden Rule. If we do that, we will not have any discrimination or harrassment issues.
3. Be available, check the websites and know what’s going on across the country. Don’t act surprised when the team is ordered. If possible (and I think most times it is) have a back up ready to manage your work while you are gone. The contribution many can make is to support you while you are gone. Their support is vital and very needed.
4. This may seem trivial but “have your act together.” Make sure your kit, gear, clothes are ready and in good shape for assignment.
5. Lastly, “Go Home Early” it hurts our team at times. If you feel this illness coming on, please do not go on assignment. If we know ahead of time you will have to return early, let your team supervisor know and we can deal with that up front.

I am extremely proud of the Blue Team. We’ve taken on simple assignments up to and including Type 1 assignments. This team has always gotten a good rating and it is because of your performance, whether you are a veteran or a new member. We’ve dealt with poor performance and bad conduct on occasion, but this is rare. Not only are we a team, but we practice good teamwork.Thank you for your dedication and thanks to those at home that support you, whether family, friends, or co-workers.
