Salt Creek Falls Observation Site
Salt
Creek Falls is a spectacular site and the second highest falls in
Oregon. It is the most powerful waterfall in Southern Oregon with
an average yearly flow of about 50,000 gallons per minute (enough
water to supply all the water needs of a community of about 180,000
people).
There are many views of the falls along the canyon rim, but the
best is about half-way down the trail to the base of the falls.
It takes about fours seconds for the interior of the water column
to fall the 286 feet to the bottom on the falls.
Facilities include ample parking, restrooms, a viewpoint and a
well maintained trail down to the bottom of the falls. Approximately
50 yards down the trail is the viewing platform, which has rails
specially designed for viewing the falls from a wheelchair. All
the facilities at the Salt Creek Falls Observation Site, with the
exception of the trail leading to the base of the falls, are accessible
to wheelchair users.
