The current conditions information we offer here is for general reference. Conditions can change rapidly, especially in wilderness areas and any time in winter recreation. Please be prepared when you are embarking on an outdoor adventure.

Ranger District (Local) Updates

Note about District Recreation Updates

These updates cover the most frequently asked about sites and trails. It's a rolling list that follows the opening and closing of access as snow levels change in spring/summer and fall -- and as trails get cleared out in the summer. Unless there is an "emergency," we generally update the conditions report weekly during the seasons when the snow level is changing. If you don't see an update for a particular week, it probably means that conditions haven't changed significantly. Please feel free to contact our Ranger District offices for confirmation and details.

Area weather report: link to NOAA
The Willamette National Forest spans a large area. Look for the weather report closest to your planned activity. Here are the local weather reports you can access from the weather link above.

Roads & Travel Conditions

Watch for construction and closures on these Forest Service roads. Construction completion dates are approximate. Please check with one of our Ranger District offices if you have questions.

• November 21, 2008 ~ National Forest System Road 2207 on the Detroit Ranger District is temporarily closed due to a mudslide
  The road is expected to remain blocked for several months or more.
  Still closed as of May 28, 2009. Please check with Detroit Ranger District for current status.
