Pine RD Recreation Opportunity Guide
CAMPGROUNDS
Three of four campgrounds are fee sites. There is no garbage service. All have potable water but not to each unit. They are all minimally developed.
The campgrounds serve the segment of public that is seeking a natural environment with minimal controls and restrictions. They provide a rustic, undeveloped, small backwoods experience at a variety of elevations. McBride and Tamarack have been retrofitted with ADA accessible toilets.
OTHER DEVELOPED SITES
Other developed sites include Clear Creek Snopark. The Snopark was developed in partnership with many local interests. It lies easy-on-the-land with a creative design and offers access to groomed snowmobile trails and ungroomed cross-country ski trails. Toilets, log shelter, and a picnic table are available at the site.
It is expected that the Snopark will be filled to capacity often.
TRAILS AND TRAILHEADS
Trails surround heavily used wilderness areas and provide access to thousands of acres of unroaded backcountry. Virtually all summer trails are designed for pack and saddle stock and are classified as more difficult.
WINTER RECREATION
This part of the Whitman Ranger District has an excellent, long snow season. A strong partnership with the local snowmobile club that grooms 155 miles of trail exists.
