Competing Vegetation .pdf (1663 kb) This report describes the results of a reforestation and competing vegetation analysis conducted for the southern portion of the Tower wildfire area (that portion lying south of the Blue Mountain Scenic Byway (52 road)). During analysis of competing vegetation issues, a wide range of potential treatments were examined, including use of herbicides.
Veg Competition Control memo .pdf (209 kb) This letter describes past and recent experience on the Malheur National Forest with respect to tree planting activities following large wildfires. The letter also discusses the role that herbicides played in those reforestation efforts.
