Conservation Corps (YCC) Recruitment Period Begins: March 3, 2003 Recruitment Period Ends: April 14, 2003 The Umatilla National Forest, Heppner Ranger District, is recruiting four YCC enrollees for a six week period of employment from June 16, 2003 through July 25, 2003, or possibly up to eight weeks of employment through August 8, 2003 depending on funding. The four enrollees will be involved in field-going activities, such as native plant seed collection, noxious weed removal, trail maintenance, and improving wildlife habitat on the Heppner Ranger District. Young men and women, ages 15 through 18, who are permanent residents of the United States, its Territories, or Possessions, are eligible for employment. Youths must not reach age 19 during the term of employment in the YCC program. The U. S. Department of Labor has established specific limitations on duties that may be performed by youths under the age of 16. Because of these limitations, field-going positions may be limited for youths who have not reached their 16th birthday. Salary is $6.50 per hour. To apply, you must

your application and medical history must be received by the Heppner Ranger
District by 4:00 p.m. on April 14, 2003. In addition to the District Office, applications may also be obtained from the Heppner, Ione, and Riverside High Schools, the Umatilla N.F. Supervisor's Office in Pendleton, Oregon, (541) 278-3964, or by downloading and printing the forms from the links above (using Acrobat Reader). Each form must contain original signatures. Selected enrollees will be responsible for transportation to and from the Forest Service Office. Government housing is not available. Therefore, the enrollee will also be responsible for his/her room and board. Selections will be made on a random basis on April 14, 2003 at 4:15 p.m. at the Heppner Ranger District Office.
