Firewood season on the Heppner Ranger District is open from May 1 thru November 30th. A Personal-Use Firewood permit is sold for $5.00 a cord with a minimum purchase of $20.00. The maximum number of cords allowed per household per year is ten. Heppner Ranger District has a large firewood cutting area open on the east end of the district, which is easily accessible from many improved roads. Firewood permits, along with the 2003 Woodcutters Guide (which contains maps, special conditions, and other woodcutting information), can be obtained at any district office on the Umatilla National Forest, and at our Supervisor's Office in Pendleton beginning May 1 . These permits are good for any firewood cutting area on the Umatilla National Forest. Another
