Downhill Skiing

If you are a winter sports enthusiast, the Blue Mountains offer blue skies and sunshine. The Umatilla National Forest administers two ski area in the heart of the Blues. Ski Bluewood & Spout Springs operate under a special use permit and offer excellent downhill skiing opportunities from late November through early April.

Ski Bluewood-Located 21 miles southeast of Dayton, Washington, on Forest Road 64, has 20 groomed runs and six tree runs at ski Bluewood ranging in difficulty from novice to expert. At an elevation of 5,600 feet, the ski area runs 2 triple chair lifts, a platter pull, and a half pipe for snowboarding. Lift ticket prices are: Adults - $27.00, Student(with valid ASB card) - $23.00, Child/Senior (grades 1-8/65 plus) - $20.00, Platterpull tickets - $14.00, Pre-School Tickets - FREE. Spout Springs Resort-At an elevation of 5,400 feet, Spout Springs is located along Oregon State Highway #204 halfway between Weston and Elgin. With a family-oriented atmosphere, the ski area offers opportunities for the beginning skier as well as the advanced. Skiers can take advantage of both day and night skiing with two chair lifts, a T-bar, and 11 ski runs. Spout Springs also offers almost 10 miles of groomed and marked cross-country ski trails.  They offer downhill skiing, snowboarding, 16 km of groomed cross-country ski trails, also food service, rentals, and instruction. Expert ski instruction is offered at both ski areas for both beginning and experienced skiers. Equipment rentals are also available.
