The master CVS database is maintained on a personal computer in the USFS Regional Office in Portland, Oregon, using Microrim R:Base 4.5++ for DOS database management software. The database tables stored on this server have been exported from R:Base into a set of dBase III®-compatible files for each of the 19 National Forests in the Region. These files can be imported or opened by most of the commercial database management software available today. Each set of National Forest table files has been compressed into a single self-extracting WinZip® file. To download one of these compressed files, simply click on the link for the target National Forest in the appropriate table below.
A comprehensive data dictionary and project QA/QC reports for each set of survey data can be found at the CVS documentation page. The data dictionary is current for the Forest projects listed in below. It is important to note that dBase III® allows only 8 characters for column names. As a result, some of the names found in the data dictionary have been revised in the dBase III® files in order to meet this requirement.
The CVS data has completed a reconciliation process that ensures that remeasureable data are consistent across measurement intervals. The files on this page have all been through this reconciliation process.
NOTE: For security purposes, the GPS coordinates stored in the plot record are randomized approximate values that are accurate within 1 mile of the actual locations. 99.7% of the plots are within 0.85 miles of the actual locations. Any narrative blocks that address plot access or UTM coordinates have also been removed or altered.
Data for each Forest are contained within a set of compressed dBase files. Click on the name of the National Forest below to download the file. File sizes vary from 0.9 to 2.9 Mb. These data are from initial installation surveys only.

Data for each National Forest are contained within a set of compressed dBase III files. To download a file, click on the X to the right of the National Forest name, under the desired remeasurement panel in the table below. Files sizes vary between 0.9 and 3.2 Mb. These data are from remeasurement surveys only but will also contain a few first occasion plots due to changes in land ownership or in the criteria governing plot installation.
