About the Crew

The Rogue River Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC) is a Type I, 20 person wildland fire suppression crew. The Rogue River Hotshot Crew has provided a highly trained, professional, and diverse work force for wildland and prescribed fire assignments. The crew has responded to fires in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Alaska, South Dakota, Minnesota, Virginia, and Wyoming.

2005 Rogue River Hotshots in Alaska

The Rogue River Hotshots are hosted by the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest on the scenic 200,000 acre Prospect Ranger District. The crew is stationed at the Prospect Ranger Station. The ranger station includes: bunkhouse, training facility, cache, saw and tool shop, and weight room.

The crew is available for dispatch between the first of May and the end of the fire season, with an average of over 100 days per season on wildfire assignments (reference Seasonal Stats). Crew members are expected to be available for work around the start of April and continue through the middle of October. While not on fire assignments, the hotshot crew accomplishes a variety of project assignments. This work includes: prescribed burning; thinning; trail construction and maintenance; building maintenance projects; and any other work that is available to the crew.
