Teanaway
Guard Station - Washington
Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forests
History
The cabin was originally constructed in 1950 by a miner. In 1978 the cabin
came into Forest Service possession and was moved to its present location.
From that point on it was used as a fire guard station intermittently until
becoming available for rent the summer of 2004.
Description
The rustic 12 x 18 foot, one room log cabin sits at 3,200 feet elevation
in the Teanaway River drainage with the icy North Fork Teanaway River just
across the road. The cabin is furnished with a set of bunk beds, a table
and chairs, a wood burning stove (fire wood is provided) and propane lights.
The kitchen is equipped with a propane cook stove, as well as pots and pans,
a coffee pot and tea kettle, plates, cups and silverware. There is no water
on site, and visitors must bring plenty for drinking, cooking and washing.
A vault toilet is located near the cabin. A picnic table and fire pit are
available for outdoor barbecuing, dining and campfires. Visitors are asked
to check campfire restrictions prior to arrival.
