Recreation: Trail Information
The Recreation Fee Demonstration Program is in effect. A Northwest Forest Pass is required, beginning May 1, for each motorized vehicle at 26 signed trailheads on Okanogan National Forest lands west of the Okanogan River as well as at Rainy Pass Picnic Site/Trailhead.
At campgrounds west of the Okanogan River and in the 5 Lakes Area, a per vehicle/per night fee is charged. The Northwest Forest Pass is not valid at these campsites.
There is no fee for use of undeveloped sites; parking at trailheads east of the Okanogan River; parking at Washington Pass or Slate Peak Observation sites; or at Crawfish Lake, Lyman Lake or Sweat Creek Campgrounds.
Trail Conditions
Wilderness areas like this one were set aside as places where nature is allowed to take its course and where humans can escape the effects of growing population and mechanization. These rules and recommendations are all meant to help meet that goal.
