Scatter Creek Trail 427

 

Access: From Twisp drive west on Okanogan County Road 9114, which becomes Forest Service Road 44. FS Road 44 runs into FS Road 4440. The trailhead is on FS Road 4440-395, about 3.5 miles past Mystery Campgroud.

Route Description: First 500 feet is roadbed and Twisp River Trail. Switchbacks up through forest with occasional views. Crosses stream at 3 miles; subalpine forest and meadows continue up to the lake.

Highlights: Views of the Sawtooth Range and Abernathy Ridge. Wildflowers blooming along the trail during July put on a fine color display.

Specific Hazards/Difficulties: Stock users camp in meadow approximately 1 mile before lake. There is no grazing at the lake. Vegetation around the lake is fragile and firewood is scarce.
