July 12, 2010 — Crews headed home last week after four months of planning, surveying then treating lands managed by the Methow Valley Ranger District for Douglas-fir Tussock Moth.

July 6, 2010 - This is my final update as the Douglas -fir tussock moth project was completed this morning. Monitoring will continue throughout the summer.

To date we have sprayed 11,873 acres.

July 2, 2010 All of the blocks listed below have been released (ok’d) for spraying. Some of the blocks were scheduled to be sprayed on Thursday and today, Friday, but weather forced the cancelation of those flights.

July 1, 2010 - Five blocks have been released for Friday, July 2nd. Mazama block 286 (435 acres) is just east of Goat Creek, Eightmile block 016 (642 acres) and block 019 (209 acres) are both located up Eightmile Creek.

June 30, 2010 - Five blocks totaling 1449 acres have been released for Thursday, July 1st. Three blocks in Mazama, M094 (160 acres), M102 (275 acres), and M116 (137 acres).

June 29, 2010 - Four blocks in the Mazama area were sprayed early this morning totaling 622 acres.

June 28, 2010 - Nine blocks totaling 1565 acres were sprayed early Monday morning in the Mazama and Newby Creek drainage above the Twisp River.

June 27, 2010 - Two blocks were sprayed early Sunday morning in the Mazama area totaling 611 acres.

June 26, 2010 - Two blocks have been released for spraying early Sunday morning in the Mazama area. Block 91 (143 acres) and block 64 (468 acres). Block 64 is located near Lost River, northwest of Goat Wall in the vicinity of Yellowjacket. Block 91 is southeast of Mazama in Fawn Creek vicinity.

June 16, 2010 — Areas infested with Douglas-fir tussock moth larvae are divided into blocks for the purpose of monitoring larval development.

June 14, 2010 — The first tussock moth egg hatch was observed at Early Winters Guard Station on May 30th and since then the larvae have developed and dispersed to the point spraying will begin.
