| The Washington Pass Overlook will be closed on weekdays part of the summer while the Forest Service reconstructs the overlook trail. Crews will start working on the trail on Tuesday, July 6. The Forest Service is shooting to complete the project by August 1, 2010. The asphalt on the trail is beginning to crack and is crumbling along the edges. In addition, the retaining wall logs along the side of the trail are also beginning to rot. |

| Later this fall, or this next spring, the overlook railing will be replaced to make the overlook safer. The new railing will be the same style as the one at the Diablo Lake overlook, located approximately 30 miles west of Washington Pass, along the North Cascades Highway. |
