Douglas-fir Tussock Moth
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

An early warning system has indicated a potential major outbreak of the Douglas-fir tussock moth involving nine national forests, as well as other land ownerships in the years 2000 and 2001 and possibly beyond within the Pacific Northwest Region. The forests that could be potentially affected by this outbreak are the following: Colville, Wenatchee, Okanogan, Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, Malheur, Ochoco, Winema, and Fremont.

The official release date for the Environmental Impact statement is April 21, 2000. The first Record of Decision -- covering portions of the Colville, Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, Malheur, Ochoco, and Fremont National Forests -- was signed by the Regional Forester on May 26, 2000. A second Record of Decision, signed on November 7, 2000, covers portions of the Okanogan, Wenatchee, Umatilla, and Winema National Forests.
