Established
in 1961, this 2,735 acre
reservoir is located at 1,543
feet in elevation. It is
the third reservoir on the
Middle Fork Willamette River,
Lookout point and Dexter
reservoirs are located downstream.
The reservoir is drawn-down
starting in mid-september,
so users should expect reduced
water levels in the Fall.
Angling is excellent for
10-12 inch rainbow trout
from December through March.
The maximum depth is 299
feet, and average depth is
130 feet. Flies or lures
must be used in the river
above the reservoir, and
only trout with a clipped
adipose fin may be kept. |

![[Photo]: Detroit Lake](../wil/images/detroit.jpg) |
This large
reservoir (3,580 acres) is
located at 1,569 feet in
elevation. Its maximum depth
is 440 feet, average depth
is 121 feet. Use is estimated
at over 500,000 visitors
per year. Over 200,000 fish
are caught annually. There
is a high level of recreational
boating activity. Kokanee
and land-locked chinook are
most successfully fished
from boats. Best fishing
is in the arms and shoal
areas in spring and after
Labor Day, but plenty of
fish are caught throughout
the summer and even on nice
days in winter. Fish near
inlets in summer. Fishing
from the dam occasionally
produces kokanee as well
as trout. All lake fishing
techniques can be effective.
Fish worms on the bottom
for bullheads. Wheelchair-accessible

![[Photo]: Clear Lake](../wil/images/clearlake.jpg) |
This 148 acre
natural lake, at 3,012 feet
in elevation, is the headwater
source of the McKenzie River.
This oligotrophic (pure)
lake has a maximum depth
of 175 feet; average depth
is 80 feet. It lies in forested
terrain marked by jagged
lava flows. The lake was
formed by a lava flow which
impounded the McKenzie River,
quickly filling and flooding
a Douglas fir forest. Many
of these trees are still
visible, preserved by the
cold lake water. Only non-motorized
boats are allowed on the
lake, fishing is catch and
release only. |
