[Photo]: Alder Lake Alder Lake is 3 acres in size and is a popular fishing area for children. There is a trail around the lake and lakeside brush is trimmed at selected fishing locations to improve angler access. The lake has no outlet and is stocked annually with rainbow trout. The elevation is near sea level.

Dune Lake

[Photo]: Dune Lake Dune Lake is just south of Alder Lake, is 2 acres in size, and is a popular fishing area for children. The eastern shore of the lake is in private ownership. Sutton Lake

[Photo]: Sutton Lake Sutton Lake is 107 acres in size and appears as two lakes connected by a short channel. Most of the shoreline is in private ownership except for the western shore, which bounded by Hwy 101 and a Forest service day-use area with boat ramp. Sutton Campground is located west of the highway. The elevation is near sea level.

Mercer Lake

[Photo]: Mercer Lake Mercer Lake is 359 acres in size and is known for its diverse fishing opportunities. Because the shore is quite brushy and is almost all in private ownership, fishing from a boat is preferable. A county boat ramp is located on the eastern shore to aid access and the lake has one resort that has boat rentals. The elevation is near sea level.

Driving Directions: Mercer Lake is located 5 miles north of Florence Oregon on Hwy 101. Take Mercer Lake Road east 2.5 miles to reach the county boat ramp.

Munsel Lake

[Photo]: Munsel Lake Munsel Lake is 110 acres in size and, like Mercer Lake to the north, has a brushy shoreline in mostly private ownership. Fishing from a boat is, therefore, preferable. A county boat ramp is located on the southern shore to aid access. The elevation is near sea level.

Driving Directions: Munsel Lake is located about 3 miles north of Florence, Oregon on Hwy 101. Take Munsel Lake road east about 1 mile to the lake.

Cleawox Lake

[Photo]: Cleawox Lake Cleawox lake is 87 acres in size and is one of the most popular lakes on the Oregon Coast. Its defining features are the large sand dunes that form its southern and western shores. From these dunes one can gain access to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Most of the shoreline is in public ownership with easy bank access. The elevation is near sea level.

Driving Directions: Cleawox Lake is located about 3 miles south of Florence, Oregon on Hwy 101. The lake is west of the highway and is accessed at Honeyman State Park.

Woahink Lake

[Photo]: Woahink Lake Woahink Lake is 820 acres in size and, at 72 feet deep, is the deepest lake on the central Oregon Coast. Much of the shoreline is in private residential ownership, however, the Woahink Lake unit of Honeyman State Park provides ample access including a boat ramp and large day-use area with covered picnic shelters. The lake is popular for boating, waterskiing, and fishing. The elevation of the lake is near sea level.

Driving Directions: Woahink Lake is located about 3 miles south of Florence, Oregon on Hwy 101. The lake lies to the east of the highwayopposite Honeyman State Park.

Siltcoos Lake

[Photo]: Siltcoos Lake Siltcoos Lake, at 3,164 acres in size, is the largest lake on the central Oregon Coast. The lake is very popular for boating and fishing. The shoreline tends to be brushy and mostly in private ownership. For this reason, fishing from boats is prefered by most anglers. Fishing for bass is best in the spring and for yellow perch in the summer. The north shore of the lake is mostly residential and the south mostly forest lands. There is road access to the east side of the lake via Canary Rd. Inquire locally if you wish to take this road as it is rather lengthy. The western shore of the lake can be accessed by trail from the Siltcoos Lake trailhead 7.5 miles south of Florence on Hwy 101. The elevation of the lake is near sea level.

Driving Directions: Siltcoos Lake is located 6 miles south of Florence, Oregon on Hwy 101. Turn east onto Westlake Road to reach the boat ramp.

Waxmyrtle and Lagoon Campgrounds are located 2.5 miles further south along Hwy 101. They have 93 tent/trailer sites, water, and flush toilets. Drftwood II Campground is located west of Lagoon Campground. This campground has 69 tent/trailer and is used mostly by OHV users wishing to access the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Honeyman State Park is located 2 miles to the north on Hwy 101 at Cleawox Lake and has 381 campsites, water, fully accessible restrooms and showers, boat ramp, boat rentals, large day-use area, and a convenience store. The campground is open year-round. The park also has a group camping site located at its Woahink Lake unit on the east side of the highway.

Georgia Lakes

[Photo]: South Georgia Lake The two Georgia Lakes are each about 2 acres in size. There are no signs along the highway marking the lakes and parking is available at several small highway turnouts. The lakes are stocked several times each spring with rainbow trout. The shoreline is forested but brushy. The elevation of the lake is near sea level.

Erhart Lake

[Photo]: Erhart Lake Erhart Lake is 5 acres in size. The lake is not marked by signs but is clearly visible through the trees on the west side of the highway. Parking is available at several turnouts along the highway. The shoreline is forested but brushy. The elevation of the lake is near sea level.

Carter Lake

[Photo]: Carter Lake Carter Lake is is a long, narrow, 28 acre lake that lies parallel to and west of Hwy 101. The level of the lake varies greatly from year to year depending on the amount of rainfall. In most years the lake is low enough to provide easy bank access for fishing. The lake is a great place for family camping in the summer because it receives less wind than many of the other coastal lakes, the water tends to be a little warmer and well suited for swimming, and the campground has easy access to sand dunes that lie west of the lake. There is a boat ramp on the eastern shore opposite the campground.

Tahkenitch Lake

[Photo]: Takenitch Lake Tahkenitch Lake is a large 1,674 acre lake with three main arms and many smaller ones. The lake is more wild than many of the other coastal lakes with good vehicle access being present only for a short section of its western shore. The banks are brushy and there are no trails along the shores. The lake does have two boat ramps along Hwy 101 and an accessible fishing peir at Tahkenitch Landing Campground. the lake is popular with bass anglers and sports one or two bass tournaments each spring.

Threemile Lake

Threemile lake is a long, narrow, 63 acre lake with no vehicle access. The brushy shores and lack of road access make this a good choice to fish with a raft or float tube. Besides the 1 mile trail from Sparrow Park Road, there is also a three mile long trail that accesses the lake from Tahkenitch Campground at Tahkenitch Lake.

Elbow Lake

[Photo]: Elbow Lake Elbow lake is a scenic gem of a lake visible from Hwy 101. Although easily accessible, and equiped with a small boat ramp, this lake receives only light use by anglers. The brushy shoreline makes bank angling difficult but rafts, float tubes, and cartop boats are popular.

Lake Marie

[Photo]: Lake Marie This small 5 acre lake is a great place for camping, swimming, and some fishing in the spring. The Umpqua Lighthouse is within walking distance and has a great view of the mouth of the Umpqua River and the Pacific Ocean.

Eel Lake

[Photo]: Eel Lake Eel Lake is 355 acres in size and consists of two long narrow arms in the shape of a U. The state park has a trail that goes partially around the lake but the brushy shoreline makes bank angling difficult. However,Tugman State Park has both a boat ramp and an accessible fishing pier to help offset this.

Tenmile Lake

[Photo]: Tenmile Lake Tenmile Lake consists of two lakes joined by a short canal. The total surface area of the two lakes is 2,723 acres. Much of the lakeshore is residential. The lakes are popular with boaters, waterskiers, and anglers.

Driving Directions: Tenmile Lake is 10 miles north of North Bend, Oregon along Hwy 101. Take either of two exits to the town of Lakeside to reach the lake.

Lily Lake

[Photo]: Lily Lake Lily Lake is clearly visible from the north along Hwy 101, but is difficult to reach. The trail approaches this small lake from the south but once you arrive at the lake's edge you still must negotiate a prodigious growth of emergent vegetation before reaching open water. However, many anglers that have ventured forth in float tubes have been amply rewarded.

Driving Directions: Lily Lake is located about 5.5 miles north of Florence, Oregon. From Hwy drive 0.3 mile west along Baker Beach Rd to the trail. Parking is available about another 0.2 mile west of the trail.

Winchester Bay - Pacific Ocean

[Photo]: Winchester Bay The Pacific Ocean, the largest body of water known to mankind, forms the western boundary of the Siuslaw National Forest and Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Although some people fish the surf from the beach, most venture forth in small boats from the mouths of the larger rivers and bays. Charter boats operate from Charleston on Coos Bay, Winchester Bay (Salmon Harbor) at the mouth of the Umpqua River, Newport on Yaquina Bay, and sometimes from Florence at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. Contact the appropriate Chamber of Commerce for more information.

Saunders Lake

Saunders Lake is 55 acres in sizeand has a mostly residential shoreline. Facilities include a county boat ramp and picnic area.

Spinreel Campground (FS) is located on Tenmile Creek downstream from Tenmile Lake and has 37 tent/trailer sites, water, and flush toilets. Tugman State Park is located 3 miles north of Lakeside at Eel Lake and has 115 tent/trailer sites, water, flush toilets, showers, boat ramp, day-use area, and accessible fishing pier.

Hall Lake

[Photo]: Hall Lake Formerly under private ownership, Hall Lake and the surrounding land has been recently acquired by the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The lake is favorite among local residents because of its sandy swimming beach, adjacent sand dune, and sheltered location. A new day-use area is under construction that will include a picnic shelter and several short hiking trails. One of these trails will lead to nearby Shuttpelz Lake.

Driving Directions: Hall Lake is about 10 miles south of Reedsport, Oregon. Take Hwy 101 to Wildwood Drive.

Campgrounds: Day-use facilities are currently under construction at Hall Lake. Camping is available at Tugman State Park is located 0.5 mile south at Eel Lake. Tugman has 115 tent/trailer sites, water, flush toilets, showers, boat ramp, day-use area, and accessible fishing pier. Eel Creek campground (FS) is located on Hwy 101 near Lakeside and has 53 tent/trailer sites, water, and flush toilets. Spinreel Campground (FS) is located on Tenmile Creek downstream from Tenmile Lake and has 37 tent/trailer sites, water, and flush toilets.

Shuttpelz Lake

[Photo]: Shuttpelz Lake Shuttpelz Lake is a small, lightly fished lake just north of Hall Lake. A small waterfall prevents fish from moving upstream to Shuttpelz from Hall, thereby creating a somewhat unique situation of isolated native cutthroat trout. Fishing is catch-and-release only. There is good bank access on the western shore and many anglers pack a float tube or small raft to fish the brushy eastern shore. The lake is a short 0.5 mile hike from the new day-use area at Hall Lake.

Driving Directions: Shuttpelz Lake is about 10 miles south of Reedsport, Oregon. Take Hwy 101 to Wildwood Drive and go to the new day-use area at Hall Lake.
