Applegate Lake

Applegate Lake Applegate Lake is a popular recreation lake located north of the Red Buttes Wilderness Area in a picturesque setting. The lake is popular for cycling, boating, canoeing, fishing and hiking the various trails near the lake. This lake is a reservoir and lake levels will often be lower at the end of the summer. Size: 988 acres, Depth: Average depth is 85 feet and maximum depth is 225 feet at full pool. The elevation of the lake is 1,987 feet.

Fish Lake

Fish Lake Fish Lake is set in the High Cascades between McLoughlin and Brown Mtn., both relatively young volcanoes. The lake is used as an irrigation reservoir and lake levels can be lower at the end of the summer. Boating, canoeing, camping, hiking and fishing are some of the favorite activities in and around Fish Lake. Size: 483 acres, Depth at full pool averages 18 feet and the deepest part of the lake is 31 feet. The elevation of Fish Lake is 4,642 feet.

Bolan Lake

Bolan Lake Bolan Lake is a 12 acre, high mountain lake with a shoreline of Douglas fir, pine and hemlock. It provides cool relief from the hot, valley temperatures of July and August. A nice place to swim, picnic, or fish. Rainbow trout are stocked a few times each year. Overlooking Bolan Lake is Bolan Lookout, an old fire lookout that is now available for overnight stays. Driving Directions: Located 28.5 miles southeast of Cave Junction. Take U.S. Highway 199 south to O'Brien. Turn east onto County Roads 5560 & 55. After 6 miles, the road becomes Forest Service Road 48. Go 7 miles and turn onto Forest Service Road 4812. Go 4 miles to Bolan Lake.

Spalding Pond

Spalding Pond Spalding Pond is a 3 acre lake amid tall conifers. It has 3 accessible fishing platforms and a surfaced, accessible trail in a primtive setting. There is an accessible restroom and a small campground. The cool water provides welcome relief from hot valley temperatures. There is a small pebble beach. ELEVATION: 3,000'

Driving Directions: 21.5 miles southeast of Grants Pass, Oregon. From Grants Pass, OR. proceed south on Highway 199 for 18 miles. Turn right on Forest Road 25 and proceed 7.5 miles to Forest Road 2524 (Spalding Mill Road). Turn left and proceed 4.41 miles to Spalding Pond Campground.
