San Poil River

San Poil River The San Poil River is a small river that lies primarily within private and Colville Indian Reservation lands. Approximately 2.5 miles of the river lie within NFS lands and access is available along this area. This portion of the river flows through an alluvial valley that has been historically cleared of much of the large timber. Visitors that come to the river also camp in addition to fishing. Size - Accessible - 2.5 miles. Elevation -2000-2100.

Driving Directions: The closest access to the San Poil River on public lands is approximately 102 miles northwest of Spokane off State Highway 21.; 8.5 miles south of the town of Republic. The Republic Ranger District Office, located in Republic, is a source for National Forest maps and other recreational information on the Colville National Forest.
Fish Species: German brown trout, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon
Fishing Methods: Fly, Spin, Bait
Angling Season: Year-round

Sullivan Creek

Sullivan Creek Sullivan Creek is a major tributary to the Pend Oreille River. It flows through forested mountains and through approximately 2miles of roadless canyon. There is a dam on the creek creating a 63 acre reservoir approximately 3.25 miles upstream from its mouth. In addition to fishing, visitors also come to the area to hike and camp. The creek is approximately 16 miles in length with many small fishable tributaries. The elevational range is from 2060 to 5800 ft.

Driving Directions: Sullivan Creek is approximately 92 miles northeast of Spokane off State Highway 31. The mouth of the creek is located adjacent to the town of Metaline Falls. The Sullivan Lake Ranger District Office is located approximately 5 miles southwest of Metaline Falls on the north end of Sullivan Lake. The District Office is a source for National Forest maps and other recreational information on the Colville National Forest.
Fish Species: German brown trout, rainbow trout, eastern brook trout, westslope cutthroat trout, bull trout, mountain whitefish
Fishing Methods: Fly, Spin
Angling Season: Spring, Summer, Fall
Campgrounds: Crescent Lake, Mill Pond, Noisy Creek and Sullivan Lake Campgrounds

Pend Oreille River

Pend Oreille River The former free flowing Pend Oreille River in Washington now consists of two reservoirs, Box Canyon and Boundary. The reservoirs have a primitive boat launches within FS campgrounds as well as docks in some locations. In addition to fishing, visitors come to these reservoirs for camping, swimming, jet skiing, waterskiing, and canoeing.Size - Box Canyon Reservoir - 55 miles; Boundary Reservoir - 17miles.Maximum Depth - Box Canyon Reservoir - 26 ft.; Boundary Reservoir - 300+ ft.Elevation ranges from 1800 to 2100 ft.

Driving Directions: The closest access to the Pend Oreille River ( Box Canyon and Boundary Reservoirs) is approximately 46 miles northeast of Spokane off State Highway 2 near the town of Newport. The Newport Ranger District Office, located in Newport, is a source for National Forest maps and other recreational information on the Colville National Forest.
Fish Species: German Brown trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch

Angling Season: Year-round
Campgrounds: Pioneer, Panhandle and Edgewater Campgrounds

North Fork Chewelah Creek

North Fork Chewelah Creek The stream flows through low wooded mountains joining the South Fork to form Chewelah Creek. This stream flows into the Colville River. In addition to fishing, visitors also hunt, horseback ride and camp along the creek. There are approximately 8 miles of the North Fork located on NFS lands. There are also many tributaries to the North Fork that are fishable. The elevational range is from 2300 to 5000 ft.

Driving Directions: The North Fork Chewelah Creek is approximately 51 miles north of Spokane off State Highway 395. The main Chewelah Creek flows through the town of Chewelah. The Colville National Forest Supervisor's Office is located in Colville approximately 72 miles north of Spokane off Highway 395. The Supervisor's Office is a source for National Forest maps and other recreational information on the Colville National Forest.
Fish Species: eastern brook trout, German brown trout, rainbow trout
Fishing Methods: Fly, Spin, Bait
Angling Season: Spring, Summer, Fall
Campgrounds: Dispersed camping sites exist along the stream at various locations.

Sherman Creek

Sherman Creek Sherman Creek flows through beautiful scenery from the Kettle Range to the Columbia River (Lake Roosevelt). Highway 20 parellels this stream through most of its length. This section of Highway 20 is designated as a scenic byway. In addition to fishing, visitors come to view outstanding fall foliage display as well hunting and camping in this portion of the forest.

Driving Directions: This stream is located approximately 85 miles northwest of Spokane along State Highway 20. It is approximately 7 miles from the town of Kettle Falls. The Three Rivers Ranger District Office, located in Kettle Falls, is a source for National Forest maps and other recreational information on the Colville National Forest.
Fish Species: Westslope cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, eastern brook trout
Fishing Methods: Fly, Spin, Bait
Angling Season: Spring, Summer, Fall
Campgrounds: East Portal, Canyon Creek and Sherman Pass Campgrounds
