Because this lake lies in the Salmo Priest wilderness, there are no trails to the lake. It can be accessed by hiking cross country from the Sullivan Mountain summit or from the Red Bluff Trailhead.

Gypsy lake can be found on the west side of Sullivan Mountain. This is one of the few alpine lakes on the Colville National Forest.
