Overview
Dorena Genetic Resource Center, located just west of Dorena Lake and near Cottage Grove, Oregon, is unique to the USDA Forest Service. DGRC provides forest genetic services to the 19 national forests and cooperators in Oregon and Washington. The Center offers a bridge between research and production, and plays a key role in the Region's genetic resource program. more
History
Dorena Genetic Resource Center was established in 1966 as the headquarters for the White Pine Blister Rust Resistance Program. Screening and breeding for white pine blister rust resistance and the establishment of western white pine arboretum of resistance trees were among the early tasks undertaken at Dorena. more
