Why was the data set created?

For management of natural resources

How was the data set created?

  1. From what previous works were the data drawn?

  2. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?

    Date: 19-May-1992 (process 1 of 4)
The layer was assembled from the digital Cartographic Features File (CFF) from GSC (Geographic Service Center). Where no data was available from GSC, the information was digitized in the SO. The polygon layer displays the full township/ range/ section map for the quads for the Willamette National Forest. From this one can also generate the quarter township boundaries. This cover was built at a map scale of 1:24000.

    Date: 28-Apr-1993 (process 2 of 4)
    Coverage moved to ArcInfo

    Date: 26-Feb-1996 (process 3 of 4)
A new field has been added called section. This field now contains the section number and can come in handy for labeling sections. Also a township and range only field has been added. You can dissolve on this field to create a township and range coverage. A handy layer for creating a locational map.

  3. What similar or related data should the user be aware of?

How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?

  1. How well have the observations been checked?

  2. How accurate are the geographic locations?

  3. How accurate are the heights or depths?

  4. Where are the gaps in the data? What is missing?

    Unknown

  5. How consistent are the relationships among the observations, including topology?

    Unknown
