  4. Does the data set describe conditions during a particular time period?

    Beginning date: 19940413
    Ending date: present
    Currentness reference:
    ground condition

  5. What is the general form of this data set?

Geospatial data presentation form: vector digital data

  6. How does the data set represent geographic features?

    1. How are geographic features stored in the data set?

This is a Vector data set. It contains the following vector data types (SDTS terminology):
      • G-polygon (1544)
      • Label point (2068)
      • GT-polygon composed of chains (2068)
      • Point (0)

    2. What coordinate system is used to represent geographic features?

The map projection used is Albers Conical Equal Area.

      Projection parameters:
      Standard parallel: 43.000000
      Standard parallel: 48.000000
      Longitude of central meridian: -120.000000
      Latitude of projection origin: 34.000000
      False easting: 600000.000000
      False northing: 0.000000

Planar coordinates are encoded using coordinate pair.
Abscissae (x-coordinates) are specified to the nearest 0.000000.
Ordinates (y-coordinates) are specified to the nearest 0.000000.
Planar coordinates are specified in meters.

The horizontal datum used is North American Datum of 1983.
The ellipsoid used is Geodetic Reference System 80.
The semi-major axis of the ellipsoid used is 6378137.000000.
The flattening of the ellipsoid used is 1/298.257222.

      Vertical coordinate system definition:
      Altitude system definition:
      Altitude resolution: 0.000122
Altitude encoding method: Explicit elevation coordinate included with horizontal coordinates

How was the data set created?

  1. Where did the data come from?

  2. What changes have been made?

    Date: 19940413 (change 1 of 8)
See details in supplementary LMP Data Dictionary. This coverage reflects changes made through Update #8 of the Map of Record (April, 2000) This coverage was built at a map scale of 1:24000.

    Date: 20000407 (change 2 of 8)
Changes completed to the Map of Record - Update #8 1) RNA Corrections: Replaced boundaries in the LMP layer with final boundaries as describe in the Establishment Reports for McKenzie, Torrey Charlton, Hagan, and Wildcat RNAs (MA 4). 2) Opal Creek Wilderness and Scenic Areas: Created an MA 1 for Opal Creek Wilderness and an MA 2C for Opal Creek Scenic Area. 3) NFk of the MFk Wild Scenic River: Updated the boundary to reflect the new boundary as outlined in the River Management Plan (MA 6E). 4) Forestwide Wilderness Boundary Update: The boundaries in the LMP layer and the corresponding WILDER layer were updated with improved accuracy. 5) Private Land Changes: Adjusted the layer to reflect private land changes in Blue River and Opal Creek. (I only did those that were provided to me, I believe some more are near completion.) 6) Added 6B -- Elkhorn Wild Scenic River (scenic)

    Update #14

The Forest Plan Map of Record recently received several updates. The updates stem from corrections to boundaries and correction from labeling errors. None resulted in significant boundary changes. Below is a list of changes along with additional detail surrounding each update.

Update 1 - LSRS: Vertical alignment and checking for missing LSRS

    	Reason for the change:
We were checking to make sure the LMP and the LSRS layers were in sync.

    	Actions taken:
Only one LSRS was missed and therefore added to the LMP layer. A map of the changes is provided.

Update 2 - Label additions/correctons: Federal Highway Admistrative Easement and a arm of.

    	Reason for the change:
The polygon identifying the an administrative easement had the correct management allocation but it was not clear why the polygon was given that allocation. Hills Creek Reservoir was incorrectly labeled as a LSR.

    	Actions taken
The labels were corrected or added to. A map of the changes is provided.

Update 3 - Willamette's private land acquisition: Addition of the Whitebrach property purchased by the Willamette.

    	Reason for the change:
The Forest purchased 44.5 acres of from the McKenzie River Trust.

    	Actions taken
The unit was already in the LMP layer as private land. The area received the a land allocation that reflected the surrounding land allocations. One portion received a 10C and the southern portion received a 11c. A map of the changes is provided.

Update 4 - Flat Creek warehouse: No real change just the site officially displayed in the LMP layer

    	Reason for change:
Flat Creek as been a site for administrative use since before the Forst Plan was published but not reflected on the LMP layer.

    	Actions taken
Upon the request, the site was digitized and labeled 13B. A map of the changes is provided.

Update 5 - AMA research plots

    	Reason for the change:
A requested for a more formal protection for the long established research plots just outside the HJA Experimental ForestThe was made.

    	Action take:
The research sites were identified and were appropriately labeled XXMA. A map of the changes is provided.

Update 6 - Olallie Creek RNA

    Reason for the change:
The RNA had never had a official boundary description. Further research revealed the current boundary did not follow what was intended as the boundary.

    Action taken:
An amended Olallie Creek RNA Establishment Report was written to document the change to the RNA boundary, an boundary description written by a surveyor, and the LMP layer was amended with the new official boundary. A map of the changes is provided.

Update 7 - Pine Marten in OWTFR EA

    Reason for the change:
The EA changed the location of the pine marten land allocation to a more appropriate location.

    Action taken:
The location was changed as recommended by the EA. A map of the changes is provided.
