The data is tracked at the forest level to track the area affected by fire. Spatial data is stored via a region feature class due to overlapping fire perimeters.

This coverage is only intended to track fires greater than or equal to 10 acres. Fires involved as a complex are recorded under there original fire number and not the complex number

Blue Mountain Triforest coverage was created from indivual forest coverages. Step one was to make each forest coverage structurally the same. Step two was to eliminate all overlap of identical fires. An example was the Summit fire. The summit fire was a Malheur NF fire responsibilty so the polygon and region from the Malheur coverage was maintain and the polygon and region from the Umatilla coverage was eliminated. Step 3 was to append the three coverage region features together into one coverage. Step 4 was to to do a region dissolve to eliminate any duplicate records beyond the cover - id. The dissolve was bases on all the items beyound the cover-id item. Step 5 was to run regionclean to eliminate from the polygon features any unneeded polygons that were nolonger needed to maintain unique region features. Coverage was then updated to the latest core standard for this feature. This coverage was also converted to a double precission
