Abstract:
Subsections are mid-scale (250,000 ac) in the ecological unit clasification hierarchy and are dominantly based on climate and geology. Previous published subsection maps for the Blue Mountains were revised and updated to provide complete coverage for the province for purposes of Forest Plan Revision, and other analyses. Changes were based on local expertise using an interdisciplinary process including the EUI contractor (R. Ottersburg) and Forest specialists in physical sciences (geology, soils, and hydrology) and biological sciences (fisheries). Data set includes unit code and name.
Purpose:
use includes as analysis unit for describing and predicting environmental patterns and processes. For example, analysis of stream survey data sorted by subsection may show different ranges of variables (i.e. pools, wood) in part influenced by dominant geologic and climatic processes.
