Title: waterbody (Lakes)
Abstract:
This layer is composed of the lakes on the Siuslaw National Forest. The layer has line and polygon data associated with it. This allows for the retention of line attributes as well as being able to shade in the lakes on maps.
Supplemental_Information:
This layer was updated in 1992. The main portion of the data was obtained from the geometronics service center as 1:24000 quad maps of digital data. The lakes were updated with data that was interpreted from 1:40,000 scale aerial photos with a digital stereoscope by Jim Kiser at Oregon State University. NRIS attributes were added in 2002.

    Five digits number that encodes the feature type and combinations of characteristics and values that can be assigned to a type. The first three digits encode the feature type, and the last two digits encode a set of characteristics and values. The general format of the feature code is: FFFCC, in which FFF is the three-digit code for a feature type and CC is the two-digit code for a combination of values for characteristics associated with a feature type. If only the feature type is identified, these last two digits are assigned the value "0". For example, the feature type "dam/weir" has the code "343". There are five combinations of characteristics and values that can be assigned to features of this type. These combinations are assigned the values of "00" through "04". The definition field associated with FCODE uses a single character string to encode one or more characteristics and values for each feature code. The general format of the character string is Characteristic | Value, in which "characteristic" is the name of the characteristic and "value" is the value of the characteristic for the feature code. The vertical line character " | " separates the characteristic and value.
