Abstract:

The SNOTEL feature class contains point corporate data which depicts Snowpack Telemetry (SNOTEL) sites. This feature class is a product of the Pacific Northwest Region Coverage to Geodatabase Conversion Project in an effort to standardize data throughout the Region.

Purpose:

Corporate data contained within the SNOTEL feature class is intended for spatial display and analysis purposes.

Supplemental_Information:

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) installs, operates, and maintains an extensive, automated system to collect snow pack and related climatic data in the Western United States called SNOTEL (for SNOwpack TELemetry). Climate studies, air and water quality investigations, and resource management planning are all served by the SNOTEL network. The high-elevation watershed locations and the broad coverage of the network provide data collection opportunities to planners, researchers, water managers, and emergency managers.
