Abstract:

This is a ARC/INFO coverage of the land allocations created by the Northwest Forest Plan Record of Decision (NWFP). It includes most of the major land allocations identified in the Northwest Forest Plan. This is an interagency product and should be regarded as the main spatial display coverage for these land allocations. This particular version of the coverage was clipped to the extent of the Mt. Hood National Forest. The original Region 6 coverage name is nwfp_finalwo.

Purpose:

This coverage is being developed to provide an update to the original map. It is intended to accomplish the following: 1) provide better boundaries for these allocations based on subsequent work by individual forests, 2) adjust any incorrect interpretations of NWFP direction presented in earlier maps, 3) update the map for any changes in land allocation decisions that have occurred subsequent to the Record of Decision. This particular version of the coverage was clipped to the extent of the Mt. Hood National Forest for the purpose of forestwide analysis.

Source coverages orblmlua_final, r6lua_final, r5lua, cablmlua were processed and combined into nwfp_finalwo and nwfp_finalw as follows:

1) An agency field: R5, R6, ORBLM or CABLM was also added to each set

2)Coverages were then unioned by region (orblmlua_final and r6lua_fina) for Oregon and Washington and (r5lua and cablmlua) for California. Overlaps identified by both agencies were individually reviewed by Bill Connelly and a determination was made as to which agency governed. Most overlaps were slivers. No adjustment was made for gaps between the data. Overlaps were thus resolved.

3) State coverages CA and ORWA were then unioned further. Overlaps between the coverages were resolved simply as follows: If in state of California, CA agencies were assumed to have jurisdiction and their data was used. If in Oregon, OR agencies were assumed to have jurisdiction and their data was used.

4)Process step 1 for other federal lands occurred to add them in.

5)A final adjustment occurred to change LUA values of MATRR to OTHER based upon the decision to adjust the legend for these type.
