Wildlife Sign at Sisters Ranger Station

Landscaping at this Forest Service office is designed and maintained to model wildlife habitat in a business and residential setting. Two different native habitats are shown: dry ponderosa pine forest and moist quaking aspen wetland. The aspen wetland was carefully created with plant species native to the area. A tiny pond provides drinking water as a magnet for thirsty animals in spring, summer, and fall.

Bird migration during spring and autumn may bring western scrub-jay, northern mockingbird, white-throated sparrow, and golden-crowned sparrow. During any season, it's possible to observe Brewer's blackbird, red crossbill, pine siskin, American goldfinch, evening grosbeak, and three species of finch (purple, Cassin's, or house).
