Project Location
The project is located about 17 miles southeast of Bend, two miles south of Horse Ridge and
just south of China Hat Road. The project is located in the Lower Dry River and Upper Dry River 5th field
watersheds and the following 6th field watersheds Hunter, Horse Ridge, and Teepee Draw.
The legal description of the area is T20S R13E Sections
12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 34, 35, and 36 and T20S R14E Sections 19, 29, 30,
31, and 32.
Project Description
The purpose of this project is to:

Improve resiliency to large-scale disturbance events such as insect, disease, and wildlife by reducing forest vegetation density.

Move watersheds toward historic conditions by addressing tree species composition and reducing stocking levels in dense stands dominated by ponderosa pine.

Contribute forest products, including commercial and small tree material, to meet Deschutes National Forest long term sustainable harvest levels and provide job opportunities that contribute to local and regional economies.
