Yellowstone National Park Deputy Chief Ranger Selected For Ochoco
and Deschutes N.F. Position
BEND, OREGON, August 15, 2003
Deschutes and Ochoco National Forest supervisors have selected
Yellowstone National Park's deputy chief ranger to lead the recreation,
wilderness, heritage, lands and minerals programs for the two forests.
Mona Divine has been deputy chief ranger at Yellowstone National
Park since 1997, where she assisted the chief ranger in directing
resource management, visitor protection, emergency medical services,
and structural and wildland firefighting personnel.
She also served as incident commander for a special events management
team routinely called to temporarily direct personnel administering
special events and preparing for high-use periods on national parks.
Her natural resources career has taken her to posts in Alaska,
Arkansas, Wyoming and Arizona.
On September 7, Divine will begin serving directly under the forest
supervisors of the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests, along
with five other staff leads. The five other managers direct engineering,
natural resources, business and employees services, public affairs
and partnerships, and fire and aviation resources for the two forests.
"I'm very excited about the position," Divine said. "It
will be interesting working with the diverse resources in Central
Oregon. I'm looking forward to serving a community with complex
issues."
Divine graduated from California State University at San Diego
with a health, physical education and recreation degree.
She and her husband Richard plan to live in Bend.
